Ayurveda: Golden Milk for Bedtime Routine

Golden milk is a mixture of turmeric spice, milk, ghee, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom powder. Raw honey can be added to it for more sweetness and additional health benefits.

This delicious, aromatic and warming drink will make any traces of anxiety and stress accumulated during the day disappear with its calming effect, enabling you to fall soundly asleep.

During the night, the substances from the drink will continue to detoxify and restore all systems of your body. Enjoy golden milk on a daily basis and you will reap amazing benefits over time. Some additional of the benefits of golden milk are increased circulation, purification of the blood, increases immunity and vitality, strengthens the bones and beautifies complexion.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup organic milk (can be substituted with almond or hemp milk)
  • 1 tsp. organic ghee or coconut oil
  • ¼ to ½ tsp. organic turmeric powder**
  • Large pinch of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom powder**
  • Raw honey to taste

 

 Directions:

  • Warm milk in a small pan over low-medium heat, stirring occasionally.

 

  • Once warm, slowly add the ghee and spices while continuing to stir. Mix until there are no chunks and the powder has fully absorbed into the milk. If you have a hand blender, this works particularly well and it also creates a yummy frothy texture.

 

  • Remove from heat and let cool to a drinkable temperature. Once the temp has cooled to about 110 degrees, add a small spoonful of honey to the desired sweetness.
